I’m David Ellis Flynn
also known as EWRKS—a Chicago-born artist using paint, texture, and storytelling to document my experiences and challenge the world around me. My work is both personal and political, blending cultural critique with raw emotion to explore themes of race, identity, and existence. Every piece is a reflection of my journey, shaped by the streets of Chicago, the voices of activism, and the constant push to create something meaningful.
I work with acrylic, oil, pastels, spray paint, and airbrush, often layering colors and textures while tackling multiple pieces at once. My favorite canvases are nontraditional objects—surfaces that carry their own history and add depth to the narrative. Each stroke, each layer is intentional, building upon itself to tell a larger story.
This space is an extension of that process. Explore my work, my inspirations, and the stories behind each creation. Welcome.
